Study shows mothers who got influenza during pregnancy more likely to develop bipolar disorderThe study published in JAMA Psychiatry on May 8, 2013 found that children whose mothers contracted influenza (flu) during pregnancy had a four-fold increase in the risk of bipolar disorder. The recommendation was to vaccinate all pregnant women against the flu and to advise them to avoid contact with people who are symptomatic.
